Just realized the first and third Batman films pit the Caped Crusader against manic trixters—the Joker and the Ridler, respectively—and the villains in the second and fourth films are winter-themed—the Penguin in Batman Returns and Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin—or tragically brooding. Not only that, but both Penguin and Freeze form alliances with buxom vixens whose alter-egos serve as love interests for Batman’s alter-ego, Bruce Wayne.

Really, there’s a lot of continuity between the Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher films. The third and fourth just have more nipples.
